Problem: there is a distinct lack of podfic in the 1d fandom.

Proposed solution: I would like to try and record some. Would any of you guys potentially be into that?

I was thinking of doing something I've written first, so as not to offend anyone else by failing at theirs. If there something of mine that you'd like to listen to? I've been told I have a nice voice, if that helps.

Current writing project: 1d big bang where Harry is a nanny in London and meets Niall. It's turning out surprisingly long, because it's just short of 10k and that's basically an intro. Is anyone interested in doing some light beta or preliminary reading? Not intense grammar or even plot stuff yet, just want a second opinion on what's there so far.

Zayn sleeps all over people in real life. I haven't written about that yet. Here are some words and accompanying pictures to make up for that horrible oversight.

Title: The Status Isn't Quo

Pairing: Charlie/Alex and Dan/Phil

Summary: Vaguely Dr. Horrible inspired. Charlie McDonnell works as a waiter, a barista, and a super villain assistant (wrangler). The last one’s for his friend Alex, and they’ve been pretty successful so everything is going well - until this new guy, Phil, comes to town that is. A rivalry is really the last thing Charlie wants to deal with, especially on top of his crush (which is probably big enough to be seen from space) and the fact that this bank job does not seem too well planned.

Word Count: 6,600-ish

Three days ago - Sit down to finish one non-complicated scene from my big bang, suddenly have eleven hundred words of asexual!Niall. Why does this always happen?

So that has continued and I would like to present a progress report:

Words written in the finished parts of my y_slash big bang story: aprox. 3,131 (dependent on whether ray gun is one word or two).

Words written on other stuff while avoiding working on my big bang: 3,675.

So, yeah. I'm super good at being productive and stuff.

As an aside, is anyone interested in beta-ing some ace!Niall?

You know what makes me really angry? When I see posts that say something like "Here's to girls who don't wear high heels and make up. Who don't need a guy to tell them they're beautiful. Blah blah blah." You know why that makes me angry? Because I am the kind of girl who wears make up and would wear high heels if she wouldn't trip. I like feeling girly. That doesn't make me attention seeking, or dumb, or mean that I have low self esteem. I'm sure the person that posted this on facebook was not looking at it like this, but look at what these statements imply.

They say that being girly, whether you're a girl or a guy, makes you less of a person. Being a masculine girl is good, as long as you balance it with a little femininity. You better not be a feminine boy though, god forbid.

It saddens me that even girls think that some of the things that are seen as girly are bad. They look at other girls and say "I am superior to you because I like to wear sweatpants and tee shirts." I'm not saying that embracing all the parts of you isn't important, whether masculine or feminine. On the contrary, I'm saying that girls and boys should be able to have a feminine side without it also being a 'sensitive side' or, in other words, a weak side. Good should not be a synonym for masculine, in terms of personality, actions, or appearance.

Like, when I was younger I wouldn't wear skirts or pink - just refused. This past year I decided to try skirts out, and now wear them about eighty percent of the time. Why not before? Because I was a 'smart girl' at school. Smart and feminine are these vastly dichotomous concepts which is, in my mind, a terrible thing.

Tell me if you're interested, because I could talk about this for ages.
